As I’m sure you’re all aware, Logan’s baby sister Lauren has been with us for a couple of months now. We have been struggling to figure out a way to give her a comparable web presence. However, all attempts at getting a suitable domain name like “laurenjohnson.com, .org” etc. have been futile.
So instead, we have created a new blog on WordPress (the same site/software as this blog), that we will update for both children: loganandlauren.wordpress.com. So update your bookmarks or RSS feeds, because we won’t be updating Logan’s solo site much for a while – probably not until he is able to use it for his own purposes. See you over there!
With the arrival of baby sister Lauren, this birthday has been spread out over the past month and a half. I decided to wait until after the final birthday festivities to post this update. Logan had his 2-year doctor visit a couple weeks ago. He is now about 29 pounds and nearly 36 inches tall. Based on this height, it is projected that Logan will be about 6 ft tall as an adult. This makes Daddy very happy.
Here’s the popular Pooh picture.
I can’t even begin to explain all the fun things Logan has done and learned this past year. It’s hard to believe that he wasn’t even walking on his own at his first birthday. Now, he runs all over the place. His vocabulary gets bigger and his speech gets better every day. During this past year, he’s learned to recognize all the letters of the alphabet and several numbers up to 10, and can count to 10. He re-”reads” his books after we read to him. I can’t get over how much development has occurred this year!
Since Lauren was born two days after his birthday, we decided to hold off on his family birthday party until I recovered from the c-section. Thankfully, he has no idea when his birthday is so we were able to make changes this year. We did have a nice celebration on August 10 with a few of his friends. We went to a park in Downer’s Grove and then had lunch at All Aboard Diner, where we were given the party room since the restaurant was so full. It ended up being a bigger deal than I had planned, but it was great fun. Here are a few pictures from that day.

All tired out after a morning running around at the park and a full belly.
Since I was in no shape to throw a birthday party in August, we just had his party last week (Sept. 26). Luckily, he had no idea that it wasn’t his actual birthday. He had a great time! Many thanks to everyone who came to celebrate my little man’s birthday. What an amazing day!
It was never a question what theme to have for Logan’s party this year. He LOVES Handy Manny.
And, finally, here’s a video that Daddy made capturing the fun of the day.
Money gets tight in the Johnson household so we have to ignore child labor laws and send our toddler to work in the factory. Here’s some clips from his first day on the job.
Obviously, they seem to get frequent breaks where he works…
Today Daddy decided to pull together some videos and set them to music. I have been compiling a playlist of movie music tracks for years for the very purpose of setting home movies to them. This selection is from Spider-Man 2 when he fights Doctor Octopus on the elevated train (which I actually saw filming in Chicago way back when). I think it definitely makes the video more exciting.
The videos themselves are taken from both our point-and-shoot camera as well as my iPhone, so the quality is noticeably inferior to the recent HD videos I’ve been shooting, but oh well.
Daddy busted out the HD camcorder a couple of days ago when the family went to Lake Mills, WI for a brief visit. The fish weren’t biting much so we spent most of the time just hanging out outside. Logan had fun playing on the beach, throwing rocks in the water, and feeding the ducks with Grandma.
Theme music livens up an otherwise fairly boring video, I think. Stay tuned for experiments in special effects with green screen technology!
First up is one that we took a few weeks ago. Logan is now constantly asking to watch or listen to Pearl Jam, thanks to Daddy’s fandom. This is a typical session.
Next is one I took today. For his birthday, Logan’s grandpa Jones gave him a Craftsman tool bench, which comes complete with a toy power drill! Logan loves it:
Mom bought a $5 wading pool the other day and filled it up for the first time today. It was worth every penny, and then some – he loved it! He didn’t even want to wait for a swimsuit. He especially liked when Mommy sprayed him with the hose, which he insisted on by chanting “Rain! Rain!”
